Spinal Fusion (lumbar)
Learn about this procedure and watch a detailed video that shows you exactly what is involved.
When the motion from a painful vertebra continues to cause significant pain then the surgeon may deem a fusion necessary. A Spinal Fusion can be performed in any of the three sections of the spine (Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar) and is designed to immobilize the disc or discs causing the pain. This procedure takes two or more vertebrae along with a synthetic bone material and surgically joins them together. This creates a solid mass of bone which stabilizes the weakened or damaged areas which in turn can reduce the pain significantly.
