Injuries such as herniation and degeneration of the vertebrae in the neck can progress to a point when the resulting pressure on the spinal nerves may require replacement of the damaged disc. At such time, the surgeon may perform an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion. This procedure removes the damaged disc, and replaces it with a bone graft or synthetic material. The result being less pressure on the nerves in the back and an increase in quality of daily life for the patient.
