Meniscus Repair (Arthroscopic Procedure)
In order to prevent the bones that make up the knee from grinding against each other, there are two C-shaped pieces of cartilage that are wedged in between to provide cushioning. The wedges are called meniscus (singular)/menisci (plural). They can be torn or injured through motions such as twisting of the knee and may need to be repaired. In numerous cases a torn meniscus can be repaired through minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery.
